Avoiding Duplicates in the mlkshk stream

What I did: Looked at the stream of things posted by my friends that I'm following. Noticed for example that Haters gonna h8 Bit was posted by Jeff, saved by Andre, saved by jkottke.
What I expected to happen: If I follow Jeff, Andre, jkottke, and 57 other people that all share the same image, it would be nice if I only saw it once. "Originally posted by Jeff. Saved by Andre, jkottke, etc." -- with, of course, some awesome way to see if any of them had left commentary about it, etc.
What actually happened: I saw the same 8bit hater gonna h8 4-5 times in a row. Cute, but don't need to see it over & over, do I?

Yep. We definitely know what you mean. We debated it a few times since there are times I do want to see something I uploaded propagate across the site.
What is likely is an image and then all the people you follow listed on the side as uploaders of that single image, and then perhaps it rises to the top when it's shared again.
Also, I think /incoming will be only "new" files uploaded and not shares after we bring the next group of people in. Perhaps sooner.

This is partly done. Incoming now only shows new files and not shared ones. Duplicates in your friend stream is being worked on in the next few days, we think our solution is a good one. I'll close this ticket when that is done.

This is now done. You should rarely see duplicates. If you do it's a special case, will likely be fixed in the future.
