Chrome extension save fail

Reported by cocovan | January 19th, 2011 @ 04:08 AM

What I did:

tried to save the following image - http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_REjQQ5OAUrM/TTYw1Xm5kzI/AAAAAAAAFEY/pGvGl...

What I expected to happen:

the image to be added to my MLKSHK account

What actually happened:

The pop-up appeared with the image and the existing image name as the title (as expected). When clicking the "Save This" button, received the "oops..." error message.

I've verified this bug. Not sure what's going on yet, but I can duplicate it.

Figured this out. For some reason the server is not returning the correct content-type (it's blank). There is a way to determine content type after the file is downloaded, so I will leave this open until I can solve it.

Id the content type is not sent back in the headers, would it be enough to guess the mime type based on the file extension as a simple fall back? I know you can have .gif jpegs and visa versa but it might be a simple fall back that would cover 90% of cases (if not more?).

Of course, all these fancy new sites don't always have file extensions in the file name (like MLKSHK) so this might be completely nonsense and a waste of time so feel free to ignore me!

That's one way to do it, but like you said not an ideal fix. What we will do is read the first X bytes and determine the file-type from there (like a graphics program would). It just takes time to program but it's definitely something we have to do.

I am experiencing this now too in Chrome/XP.

At this page: http://tywkiwdbi.blogspot.com/2011/01/saguaro-fasciation-white-wing... some images can be saved and others not

From the top down, first image cannot save, second can, third cannot, fourth can. Possibly unrelated but I noticed the images that do not save have a "+" in the file path as does the OP's image.

Hi cody, I think this is a different bug. It's definitely about the + signs. I will create a new bug for yours.
