Extra characters appear in pasted text in description when viewing (but not editing)
Reported by Brett O'Connor | January 24th, 2011 @ 06:14 PM
What I did:
- Went here
http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2010/03/chicken-with-nutmeg-ital...
- Use the image on the page to create start shake using Chrome
plugin
- Copy and pasted the text of the recipe into the description field of the plugin popup. Cleaned up the text a bit. Posted.
What I expected to happen:
Recipe to appear as pasted in Description field.
What actually happened:
When I viewed the shake, an extra character appeared before the degree symbol (where it says "Heat the oven to...") (See screenshot 1). When I edit the text, the extra character is gone. (See screenshot 2.)
(Chrome 9.0.597.67 beta / Windows 7)

This looks like an encoding bug on the form submission. I've changed it to UTF-8 but it's still being escaped on the page.
Your version will still be broken because it was inserting bad encoding, but going forward it will save correctly, it just doesn't display correctly. Leaving this open until I fix it.
