Option to disable keyboard navigation?

Keyboard nav is nice, but it's kind of a pain when I'm 10 pages deep into "Older" entries, and I try to use Command-L to get to the address bar in my browser. Instead of being able to type in a new URL and go, I'm instead moved one page back in my history.
I don't know how hard this would be to toggle with a preference, or if this is just part of a master plan to keep me on the site forever.
