Firefox Plugin - failure to upload when file extension doesn't correspond to the MIME type
Reported by maschnitz (at yahoo) | January 14th, 2011 @ 11:46 AM
What I did:
- Went to this image: http://www.unmannedspaceflight.com/index.php?act=attach&type=po...
- right-clicked for "Save this image to Mlkshk" via the Firefox plugin
- filled in a name and clicked "Save"
What I expected to happen:
The image to be saved under the name I gave it
What actually happened:
"Uh-oh!" - it failed to upload.
Admittedly, this is a corner case. And this forum is constantly annoying for not giving the URL a proper file extension.
But the image' HTTP response issues a proper MIME type - "Content-Type image/jpeg". The upload code should respect that, in theory.
May not be worth fixing.

- Tag changed from firefox win7 mime to firefox, mimetype, win7
BTW normally, with this forum, a simple workaround is to add a '&f=.jpg' to the end of the URL to fake a file extension for the file parsing code. But Mlkshk is smart enough to parse the URL properly.
So the workaround here is to save to your local disk, then upload using the webpage.

I just tried it on this image:
http://www.unmannedspaceflight.com/index.php?act=attach&type=po...
after reinstalling the Firefox plugin - another "Uh-oh". :/
